Fish Face

This was from  a tutorial from the book Digital Character Painting. I lost the CD-Rom so i substituted a fish scale brush i found online.

They have you use the Airbrush Pen Opacity 19 brush almost the whole time. In practice it seemed like a nice general purpose brush for building up generic tones very gradually.

In the tut they get you to use the liquify filter which is a throw back to Kais power tools. The neat thing about it is that when you apply it to a sketch you have some fun control over the foundation for your digital painting rather than a sort of post filter traditionally applied to photos. One of the keys to using this is the dynamics of adjusting the brush while you distort. By changing your brush you can manipulate your line work so that it still retains some of the original line quality.

Elephant with shadows

I started adding shadows to this guy. Instead of blending using the healing brush i did some simple blurs.
